一種直立核磁共振系統(tǒng)使得患者步入檢查室接受掃描。這種直立MRI是由Fonar(Melville, NY, USA)公司研制開發(fā)的，允許身體的所有部分，尤其是關節(jié)和脊柱，能夠在沉重狀態(tài)下進行掃描檢查。

系統(tǒng)配備新型MRI兼容的機動化患者處理系統(tǒng)，能夠將患者移動至磁體，并將需要檢查的解剖部位放置磁體帽的中央部位。同時還能在垂直方向將患者旋轉至水平位置，這樣患者就能夠象傳統(tǒng)的MRI掃描一樣進行掃描檢查。

這套系統(tǒng)的其它特征包括患者舒適度極高，因為能夠從磁體內部毫無障礙的觀察掃描室；患者面孔之前沒有任何障礙物。這套系統(tǒng)能夠掃描患者的各種疼痛部位，無論是坐還是躺下，能夠在彎曲、旋轉、側彎等位置。
 
Upright MRI System
 
An upright magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system allows patients to simply walk in and be scanned. The Upright MRI, developed by Fonar (Melville, NY, USA), allows all parts of the body, specifically the joints and spine, to be imaged in the weight-bearing state.

The system is equipped with a novel MRI-compatible motorized patient handling system that will move the patient into the magnet and position the anatomy of interest in to the center of the magnet gap. It also can rotate the vertically oriented patient into a horizontal position so the patient can be scanned lying down as in traditional MRI scanning procedures.

Other features of the system include a very high degree of patient comfort due to the unobstructed view of the scanner room from inside of the magnet; there is nothing in front of the patient’s face. The system can scan patients in their position of pain, sitting or lying down, and in flexion, rotation, and lateral bending positions.
